Campaign for a Living Wage in Fairfax
FORUM, continued

Hurst was joined by representatives of Democratic campaigns in two adjoining districts: Bryan Spoon, representing Representative Jim Moran in Virginia’s 8th District, and Bruce Roemmelt, representing Judy Feder, who is seeking election in Virginia’s 10th District. All three campaigns affirmed their support for efforts to increase the federal and state minimum wages, and encouraged the rest of Northern Virginia’s county and local governments to follow the example of Arlington and Alexandria by adopting local ‘living wage’ laws as part of their procurement process.

“It was inspiring to hear Andy Hurst and spokesmen for the other two campaigns express their support for justice for the working poor. It is a scandal that people are working full-time and trying to survive in my county, Loudoun, on less than $10,800 per year!” said Vice President Martire. “And it was great to hear from other Virginia leaders like Supervisor Hudgins and Delegate Eisenberg who are trying to take action here rather than sitting on their hands.”

Representatives Frank Wolf and Tom Davis were invited to appear but declined to attend or send a representative.
